Test Prep Courses
We'll help you meet the demands of preparing for your college entrance exams.
Freshmen & Sophomores
The PSAT is a great opportunity for students to get an idea of their strengths and weaknesses in various skills that are necessary for college study.
It's also helpful because it lets them prepare based on what they need the most help with, so no time will be wasted working through unnecessary practice problems.
The final benefit comes from seeing how your performance compares against other high schoolers applying to colleges across the nation, this can give you more confidence as we head into application season!
Some lucky students even win scholarships offered by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC)!
Juniors and Seniors
The end of year sophomores, juniors and seniors should be seriously preparing with SAT tutoring or ACT college entrance exam two to four months prior.
All four years of high school students need to read comprehension and vocabulary skills in addition, we have found a majority that come during the Test Masters Program needs math (Algebra 1 & 2 Geometry Trigonometry).
Preparation starts two-four month before allowing them time to navigate through different types of questions given on PSAT/SAT/ACT.
We can't forget the importance of learning test-taking tricks and how to allocate time.
For example, if a student needs more intense review in Math or English courses from high school we will sit down with parents and discuss concerns about their child's performance on tests before deciding what is needed next for tutoring sessions.
If this involves additional remediation that takes place outside our typical hours it may not be included so students are aware of these fees ahead of time when signing contracts which need re-negotiation as well depending on circumstances.
Test Masters Program
2-hour Initial Consultation (includes take-home diagnostic test) The cost is $97 for the 2-hour Initial Consultation (to be applied to the total cost of the Test Masters Program if the student chooses to enroll). A bill will be sent to your email and the session is paid online prior to attending the session. The initial consultation is usually after school or on the weekend.
This time will allow both the student and the tutor to get to know one another better. The first few minutes we discuss the layout of the exam, how the test is scored, and discuss some strategies on how to raise test scores. Our primary focus is to be sure that the student understands where they are in the preparation process, what areas need to improve to reach their desired scores, and in which program they will fit best moving forward. The student will be given a take-home diagnostic test to further evaluate what areas need to be improved. This test will be scored and discussed at the next session after purchase of the full Test Masters Program.
Additional Follow-Up Sessions
Studies show that students perform best on their official tests when they are well prepared, starting approximately 2-4 months prior to the test and taking advantage of summer breaks to study. Ideally, the studentwill meet twice a week for 1.5 hour sessions over 6-8 weeks prior to the test.Practice tests are assigned regularly to assess the student’s progress.
These full-length tests are found in the back of the student’s textbook. Self-Paced Online ProgramStudents are given the online program and are able to work through the assignments at their own pace. A 30-minute tutoring session is scheduled with the instructor once a week for 3 months.
Private Sessions - (1-to-1) Tutors are able totailor the program to the pace of the student and answer their specific questions. Small Group Sessions- (2+ students) Group tutoring is our most popular selection for test preparation. Students will be assigned to a group or they may make arrangements and coordinate their own group times with our “bring a friend” program. The actual test preparation courses are offered on a firstcome first serve basis.
